Signs help Alabama parish gather members to consecrate

Sanctuary of Little Flower Catholic Church
Guest Post by Mary Jo Wilder, Marian Specialist
and parishioner of Little Flower Catholic Church, Mobile AL
Divine Mercy - Canonization of St. John XXIII and St. John Paul II - 33 Days to Morning Glory Consecration to Jesus Through Mary!!
One moment in history and our Little Flower Parish Community shared in it in a powerful way!!  At the suggestion of Father Gaitley to all of the Marian Specialists, we took advantage of this unique opportunity at Little Flower Parish in Mobile, Al. to journey during Lent to the culmination of this powerful event and reaped all the great blessings that it offered!!  We began the middle of February by posting signs around our parish, "33 Days........beginning March 15th!!"
Displaying downsized_0820141539.jpg

A group of us spoke at each Mass the weekend of February 22-23 inviting our parishioners to join in on a do-it-yourself Lenten retreat!  We passed out 145 "33 Days to Morning Glory" books to those who were interested.  Our first meeting was on March 15th and we had a consistent group between 25-30 to watch the DVDs and join in our small group discussions!
Our readings ended on the Wednesday of Holy Week and we began the Novena of Divine Mercy on Good Friday!!  Over 30 parishioners consecrated themselves at all the Masses on the weekend of Divine Mercy!!  Many chose to do it privately so we are not certain of total number!!  However, many graces have been poured out as parishioners shared with me small miracles that our Blessed Mother had already brought into their lives!!

We watched our last DVD presentation on Saturday, April 26th and shared in a lunch together.

We already have requests for the "Consoling the Heart of Jesus" Program!!  We will look to do that in the Fall!!

Thanks to the intercession of St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximillian Kolbe, Blessed Mother Teresa and SAINT John Paul II!!  We love you!!

Stage 3: Keeping the Hearts afire

On Divine Mercy Sunday, Wisdom and Works of Mercy

Fr. Gaitley's Consoling the Heart of JesusWhen NASA launches spacecraft, each ship is boosted by several stages of rockets in order to "slip the surly bonds of earth ... and touch ... the face of God," as the poem "High Flight" has it. Well, the Hearts Afire: Parish-based Programs (HAPP) from the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception aim to launch people from where they're at swiftly and surely along the path to sanctification — along the path to God. In order to shoot participants into the highest reaches of holiness, there are three stages to the program. The first stage of the program, "The Two Hearts," leads participants to consecrate themselves to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 33 Days to Morning Glory. The second portion of the first stage then helps us love Jesus as Mary does in Consoling the Heart of Jesus.

During the Divine Mercy Sunday broadcast from Eden Hill on EWTN on April 27, the Marians will launch "Wisdom and Works of Mercy," the second stage of the HAPP group studies. The broadcast begins at noon (EST).

"Wisdom and Works of Mercy" is a complete course of faith formation, presenting both an overview of Catholic theology and the practical ways to apply these teachings so that group members take the faith from their heads to their hearts, and then into their lives.

Participants read The 'One Thing' is Three: How the Most Holy Trinity Explains Everything, meet weekly for 10 sessions, watch DVD presentations, and take part in small faith-sharing groups. Then they spend up to a month reading 'You Did It to Me': A Practical Guide to Mercy in Action, which gives them concrete ways to live out the Catholic faith and guides them through the works of mercy, clearly organized according to the five Scriptural categories. Then the participants gather together again with their fellow group members to discuss what they collectively can do to live the theology they've learned.
Fr. Gaitley's book: The "One Thing" is Three now available
The books and their accompanying group studies have been well received. "I have learned so much yet I feel I have barely touched the surface of our Catholic faith," said Rose Mary A., a participant in the second stage pilot program. "I would so enjoy doing the study several times, as there is so much to absorb. I feel very blessed to have been able to do The 'One Thing' Is Three study."

"This study really made my participation at Mass more meaningful," said Kathy K. "I feel so much more connected to the sacrifice — that my joys, struggles, and worries have meaning especially when offered with Jesus to the Father, united with the Holy Spirit."

"This study has changed how I see, not only myself, but also others as members of the Body of Christ," said Patty E.

As Peter Kreeft noted in his endorsement of The 'One Thing' Is Three, "Imagine John Paul II writing a book on all the mysteries of Catholic theology in a simpler style than he ever used before. You've imagined this book."

The topics covered are vast: deification, humanity's role as priests on behalf of the cosmos, our communion with the life of the Trinity through Jesus, and more, yet all presented in an extremely conversational tone.

"You Did It to Me' shows us how to extend the mercy we have received," said Sr. Ann Shields, SGL, of Renewal Ministries based out of Ann Arbor, Mich. "The spiritual wisdom and inspiration in this book will lead the reader into a much deeper understanding of the Heart of God. Its workbook style will help us to apply the teaching concretely and, let's hope, make us fruitful stewards of the mercy that flows from the Heart of God. I highly recommend it!"

The last stage of the program, "Keeping the Hearts Afire," is the stage of ongoing formation. After having completed the group studies of 33 Days to Morning Glory, Consoling the Heart of Jesus,The 'One Thing' Is Three, and 'You Did It to Me'; undertaken works of mercy; and being formally recognized by the Association of Marian Helpers, your group will probably want to continue to meet together and grow in your faith. At this point, the friendly staff of our Evangelization Office will be able to recommend a wide range of further group studies that will suit the desires and needs of your group such as Scripture study, gift discernment, thematic studies, and much more. More on that to come.

In the meantime, get on board the good ship HAPP, and let yourself be launched toward the life and the love of God.

7 Canadians comment on what their consecration means to them

Testimonies of participants in 33 Days to Morning Glory retreat in Ontario, Canada

Guest Post from: Dennis and Angelina Girard, Marian Specialists in Ontario, Canada
Angelina and Dennis run the website: http://divine-mercy.ca/

Dennis and Angelina Girard
Lucy: started going to frequent weekday masses after never having gone before. She also went to confession, which had been a long time since her previous one. She is also saying the rosary daily. Her husband , who is an irregular church goer, suggested attending mass at St. Pats before going to afternoon plays on Sunday. She says this is all from the book.

Louise: Initially she declined the book, but called me back at 10:00 pm to say she had changed her mind so I gave her one. A few days later she rang me to say that a huge family problem, which had been ongoing for some time, had been peacefully resolved. Her comment...It's the Book!!!

Lola: A friend from church. She had ordered a book from an acquaintance which was due to arrive after the beginning of the Consecration.I just happened to have a book with me at church the day before the Retreat so I gave it to her so she could begin on time and suggested that she give away the book which she had ordered. Two days later she attended a funeral at St. Isidore's church which had a huge poster displayed at the back of the church about the 33 Days.  She felt it was a sign that she was on the right path.

Marg: My sister in London, Ontario  had never heard of the book , but was interested in doing the consecration. She will begin her retreat on May 10, 2014. She and her husband were recently away on a cruise, and walked into a church to go to mass in the Florida Keys where again a huge poster of the 33Days was at the back of the church. She said it was a sign for her. She recently saw Fr Gaitley interviewed on EWTN and was impressed. She is eager to begin.

Jennifer: Has experienced more peace in her family and credits it to her consecration.

Estelle: Will be going on pilgrimage to Lourdes early July with family. She will make her consecration there, even though it will not coincide with a Marian feast day. How special will that be!

Marie: I have more peace concerning my marital situation, which will be resolved according to the will of The Lord and unlimited help of our Blessed Mother. I have a new-found love and dedication to the Rosary, which I say every day and have for a few years now. As I was away in Florida at the time of my consecration and could not get to church,  I am redoing it starting on Thursday.

Summary:  To Jesus through Mary." We’ve all heard this phrase, but what does it really mean? In this episode we look at four great saints who show us the way:

the one who gave us the phrase to begin with - St. Louis de Montfort;

the one who asked the question " Who are you, Oh Immaculata?"-- St. Maximilian Kolbe;

the one who experienced a "call within a call" and found her way to that call through Mary - Blessed Teresa Calcutta; and

the one who dedicated his pontificate to Jesus through Mary in his motto "Totus Tuus"-- Blessed John Paul II.

Fr. Gaitley explains Marian Consecration as the surest, quickest way to become a saint. Watch the episode to see how going to Jesus THROUGH Mary can change your life!
