Florida parish group consecrates

St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Pembroke Pines, FL, participated in the 33 Days to Morning Glory retreat, concluding with Mass with Fr. Jeff and making their Marian Consecration on May 29th.  The timing of the retreat was quite special as it began on the eve of Divine Mercy, celebrated the canonization of St. John Paul II, the feast of St. Louis de Montfort, April 28 and spent most of the retreat in the month of May, Mary's month!

25 parishioners made the retreat and it was a wonderful experience for all.  They were excited to  learn so much about our parish patron, St. Maximilian Kolbe! What most people know about St. Maximilian Kolbe is that he gave his life as a martyr in place of another person at a concentration camp.  Many do not realize that that act was merely the culmination of a bold and courageous life in the service of our Blessed Mother.

He actually founded an army for Mary! And it's mission: "nothing less than to bring the whole world to God through Christ under the generalship of Mary Immaculate, and to do so as quickly as possible."  Ambitious, right?! What an example for us to follow!  St. Maximilian Kolbe was just one part of the retreat!

Leader Melinda Thibodeau said "We learned so much about each of the saints, their intimate thoughts on God and Mother Mary and how to apply it to our life.  Everyone is eager to live their "new" life with Mary and eager to learn more about the next part of Hearts Afire! Thank you Fr. Michael Gaitley and all his helpers for this wonderful program! Blessings to you and the work you do!"
