33 Days was a "Faith Strengthening Experience" for Adult Faith Formation at St. Patrick's in Troy, Ohio

from St. Patrick's Catholic Church Coordinator of Adult Faith Formation:

On Thursday, August 15, The Feast of the Assumption, our parish was proud to have over 70 people make their consecration to Jesus through Mary.  It was a beautiful and meaningful event to all present.

Fr. Joe, our Sunday associate helped to make it special as we passed out our certificates and Miraculous Medals to each person.  We read the book “33 Days to Morning Glory” by Father Michael Gaitley, MIC, and about 20 of us met on a weekly basis discussing what we had read and watching the DVD series by Fr. Gaitley.

Our eyes were opened to how much Jesus wants us to be close to Mary our spiritual mother and how through her we become even closer to Jesus.  The perfect part of this however, is it is a do-it-yourself retreat; so many families were able to do it even though they are busy.  As we encouraged families to try and find about 5 minutes to read the daily reflection, it became clear to them how important it is to make Christ the center of their lives.

As a coordinator of Adult Faith Formation in this parish, I am always excited when I get such good feedback from a project offered to the parish.  I heard the comment from several parishioners that this program has moved them in their spiritual life and encouraged all of us to put our Faith into action.

This was a faith-strengthening experience and we in faith formation have worked together, especially since the Summit last fall to put Christ at the Center and the proclamation for the Year of Faith by the Pope, to search for as many ways as possible to reach out to where families are and how we can help them grow in their faith.

I have been encouraged and given great support by Louise, our representative for Lighthouse Catholic Media and the Association of Marian Helpers HeartsAFire Programs.  It is obvious she puts her heart and soul into all she does to encourage others to be stronger in their faith life.  She is such an inspiration and I am thankful to her for introducing our parish to “33 Days to Morning Glory” and the Lighthouse CDs which have also been beneficial to our families. She and her husband even took the time to come to our consecration and help us celebrate.

Our Hearts are on Fire for Jesus and we look forward to spreading the Good News and His love throughout our community.
